Slow down...

Seriously, another picture of Lucy??

But this one is special.

Do you see it?

No??

Bam!!

So yes, I was excited to find this plethora of new hair strands. But that's really not what is so special.

Look closer...

Closer...

SEE IT???

My baby girl has teeth.

A few days after turning 5 months, we were sitting on the back porch and Steven was letting Lucy chew on his knuckle and...OUCH! Sure enough, those little suckers were poking through. She handled it like a champ. I was prepared for horrible, cranky, fussy teething and she just asked for a little extra T.L.C. and they just slid right through before we realized what was happening. That evening we just sat on that porch celebrating, but also a little dumbstruck, realizing the milestones will not be slowing down any time soon.

Bittersweet to say the least.

Definitely more sweet than bitter. But slow down Lucy girl, there's no rush.

Baby likes a party!

Last weekend my parents came up and we took baby girl to our local river festival. A little heat, a little breeze, people watching, live music, good food, cold drinks...all while sitting by the river.

Lucy loved it. She loved smiling at the people who came up and talked to her. She loved the lights and the music, dancing with her daddy, and cat-naps on her mama's chest. And I loved watching her personality develop even more; watching my happy, friendly, music-loving sweet girl enjoy a new experience with incredible ease.

Outdoors and live music. Yep, definitely our daughter.

My godson turns ONE!

There is this precious little boy, Ryder.

Ryder and Lucy will be the best of buds.

He'll come with us fishing and on camping trips.

Lucy will show him a few guitar chords.

Ryder will make her laugh.

They will tell each other secrets while their Mama's sip wine and catch up.

There are great memories to be made.

I'm just excited to be a part of this little man's life and to get to watch him grow into an incredible person.

The start of a long friendship...

Getting ready for his pool party!

Love you Ryder James Thomas!

The Fifth Month

Dear Lucy,

Happy 5 months sweet girl. This fifth month was another big one for you. Things like, you saw the ocean and played in the sand for the first time. And bigger things like, you're sitting up on your own. No pillows or anything. I wouldn't suggest reaching for anything though, that's when the whole balance thing gets a little tricky. And you hug. You HUG. You wrap that little hand around the back of my neck and squeeze. I can barely stand it.

I am more and more aware of how fast time flies and I want to capture everything.

Although I could never have enough pictures of your blue eyes and happy baby smiles...

I find myself wanting to document all the details.

Photobucket

I want to remember all of your favorite things.

Lucy, you are just pure love. Everything sweet, good, and magical. I catch myself thinking about how awesome it will be when you start learning to talk and we can communicate. Then I look over at you and you scrunch your nose, making your eyes squint, then one corner of your lip starts curling up into a smirk that's always followed with a snort and a giggle. I totally agree Lucy, who needs words.

Love,
Mama
